A non-profit organisation dedicated to the prevention and treatment of disordered gambling.

What is South African Responsible Gambling Foundation

The South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing and treating problem gambling in South Africa. It operates as a public-private partnership between government regulators, such as the National Gambling Board, and the South African gambling industry.[1]

Role in the industry

SARGF mitigates the negative impacts of gambling by providing free and confidential treatment and counseling to problem gamblers and their families. It educates the public on the potential harms of gambling through national awareness campaigns. The foundation also develops and provides free responsible gambling training programs for industry operators and regulators.

Its core operations are funded by a mandatory 0.1% contribution of the Gross Gambling Revenue (GGR) from the South African gambling industry, which encompasses casinos, sports betting, bingo, and limited payout machines.[2][3]
